Citizen Science on our Reserves How you can help.
All regular users and visitors can contribute to the knowledge and understanding of our Reserves and the nature that calls it home. We would encourage all regular users and visitors [including school groups] to participate in our ongoing citizen science activities.
How can I do this? It is really quite simple! Begin by being very observant of big and small things. Then take a photo on your mobile device. The most important step happens next. Download any of the following Apps;
Use their inbuilt help to add your photo and report your interesting sightings of plants, flowers, mammals, reptiles, frogs and insects. If you are clever, you can even use your photo to identify what it is that you saw and photographed. If you use iNaturalist then the environmental community it supports will help you to identify what you have found. Your findings then become part of these important citizen science databases. A couple of recently identified species through ‘inaturalist’ (see photos below) have been the Green Grass Dart (butterfly) and the Blotched Blue-tongue.

You can also use these Apps to explore your own local area and extend your own knowledge.
Most importantly your contributions will help us to not only extend and share our knowledge but will also contribute to the BIG picture of our local area and the planet we live on.
